Mobile telephony is very popular in Poland. Younger Poles especially tend to buy a mobile phone (komórka) instead of getting a fixed line connection.

Quality of mobile services is very good and there are very few places without mobile phone coverage. In many cases, using a mobile phone is less expensive than using a land line.
Each GSM provider has its own tariff structure and providers try to adjust their services to suit different clients’ needs. To make sure that you choose the best provider to suit your needs, think about how much you use a mobile and check out the different plans on offer. The easiest way of doing this is look at the websites, call up or visit one of their sales points.
If you don’t want to sign up for a contract you can always buy one of the many prepaid phone deals which are offered on the market. There are six big prepaid providers. When choosing prepaid telephony you should bear in mind that calls are not as cheap as with a contract. However, you will only have to pay for calls actually made.
