differences between Bilbao, Madrid and Barcelona
-
How do Bilbao's translation and interpretation rates, work opportunities and housing costs stack up compared with Madrid and Barcelona's? I'm a Canadian, native English speaker, have worked in Colombia for 12 years, and am an accedited translator-interpreter (Spanish-English and vice-versa). I'd appreciate hearing about other people's experiences in Bilbao.

answer to differences between Bilbao, Madrid and Barcelona
I have been living in Bilbao for half a year for study purposes. I am now living in Madrid so I think I can give you some answers to your questions.
Given that Bilbao is not as large as Barcelona or Madrid, it is quite an expensive European city, the low end of housing and living costs lie at respectively €200 and €300 per month, depending on your own preferences, these costs can go up to around €600 and €500.
As I have only studied in the city, I can hardly inform you on the translation and interpretation rates, perhaps it gives you an idea that Bilbao is fairly smaller than Barcelona and Madrid. The overall unemployment levels in Spain are quite high though.
Furthermore, I have greatly enjoyed my time there; it is a modern and vibrant city, quite compact with excellent transportation services. The countryside is astounding, including the ocean shoreline, which I quite miss out here in Madrid.
I hope to have been of some help to you, have a great stay in Spain!

Hello amigos I'm from Madrid
Hola amigos, I'm trying to go to Barcelona or otra ciudad de España. I want to live by myself (por fin!) hehe. Me gustaría que somebody me dijera what can I do, where could I work. No sé qué hacer, creo que I could work en muchas cosas. I only need enough for have a rent and algo para comer y salir de party. Somebody puede contarme su experience of living by himself? Thank you!
