Initial enquiries

• My husband and I are thinking about moving to the Middle East from Australia. He is in property so will be able to get a sponsored job. The choices are Bahrain or Oman. At this stage I am just doing some initial research.
  
  I would like a wife's perspective on living in these places. We do not have kids but hope to start a family soon so it is not likely that I would work.
  
  My specific questions are:
  
  Is the weather tolerable?
  Is there large Western expat communities in these places?
  If I were to have kids is there good medical support?
  Is the culture for women something that can be gotten used to?
  
  any general information would also be helpful
